Drone research exploring whether quadrotors with slung payloads could safely transport turtles away from roads.

Under the supervision of aerospace master's student Ji Tong Chen, I explored whether quadrotor drones with slung payloads could transport turtles off roads safely and quickly.
I wrote a research proposal, iterated on the idea with my supervisor, designed parts in CATIA, worked with Arduino electronics, and assembled a prototype payload system.
A taste of research
The lab's working style was largely: go figure things out, then ask for help when needed. That independence made it a meditative deep-work experience.
I often traveled two hours each way to Vaughan for the lab, and I remain grateful for the chance to experience academic research so early. I recommend the ARC program to high-school students interested in technology, including students who usually think of themselves as software-only.
